FAQ
Do you offer free photoshoots?
At every convention I attend, with enough advance notice, I do try to offer a giveaway. And so far I've not missed one! I want to give every cosplayer the opportunity to experience a photoshoot. I do use what I make from cosplay photography to afford the conventions and the hobby in general, so I can't offer all of my sessions for free.
I do also occasionally do model calls in my local area (Charlotte, NC) and those calls get posted to my Instagram story.
Please do not request a free photoshoot unless you can explain to me the value and benefit of me doing a free session. And no, exposure is not a valid reason.
What software/hardware do you use?
SOFTWARE
Adobe Lightroom Classic
Adobe Photoshop
HARDWARE
Camera body - Canon EOS 6D Mark II
Lenses - 24-105mm 1:3.5-5.6, 50mm F/1.8, and an 85mm F/1.2
What is the difference between a special effect and a composite?
The way I define the two are that a special effect is something that ads to the photo but does not change the location, whereas a composite changes the location of the photo and can include a special effect. Let's look at it like this.
You are cosplaying a character with fire abilities and you are photographed on a sidewalk.
A special effect would be putting fire in your hand or adding a little bit of fire around you.
A composite would be to make it look like you are in a burning building.
I did make this visual presentation guide that could help you to understand, click here to view it.
Why don't you use lighting equipment at conventions?
There's a few reasons for this:
I don't like traveling with and carrying a bunch of equipment around.
This sets a cut off time, sundown. When the sun sets I don't shoot anymore. This allows me time to visit with friends and enjoy the convention as well!
For me using lighting equipment takes more time than natural light. This means that I wouldn't be able to take as many bookings and the cost of a session would drastically increase. That said, if you're interested DM me on Instagram.
What equipment do you use to shoot and what program do you edit in?
Equipment
Camera body | Canon 6D Mark II
Lenses | 24-105mm, 50mm F/1.8, and 85mm F/1.2
Lights | Sutefoto T15 RGB
Computer | custom build from my partner
Software
Adobe Lightroom Classic
Adobe Photoshop
Why don't you take large bookings at conventions?
I do have a minimum booking requirement for convention groups, but I really don't tend to take large group bookings of 6+ people at cons anymore. Large groups take up a lot of time and can be a lot of stress.
If a large group were to want to book a session at a convention, however, they would have to pay the cost of what I would make in a full day at a convention. And honestly I just don't see that happening. That said, if you're interested DM me on Instagram!
What are your tier requirements for a group booking?
Just because I know I'll need a set amount of time to work with folks I do require certain tiers if your group has more than just one person.
1 person - Tier 1
2-3 people - Tier 2
4-5 people - Tier 3
6+ people - custom rate, see "Why don't you take large bookings at conventions?" for details.
I want to make sure it's clear those are minimums of tier-per-people. So if you're looking for a solo session but want to book a Tier 3 and get 10 photos back, you're absolutely welcome to do so!
How do you handle payments?
I'm terrible at math. So therefore I use PayPal invoices.
Once you complete a contract I'll use the information provided there to build an invoice, and it will get emailed directly to you.
There is a 50% non-refundable deposit that is due within 24 hours of receiving the invoice. The deposit will count towards your session. The remaining of the total is due the Sunday prior to the session for conventions OR on the date listed on the invoice for location sessions.
Yes, PayPal does take a small fee/percentage, but I consider it worthwhile because of the time saved not having to do math.
Do you have any rules about posting photos?
The rules are simple and are as follows:
no additional editing (see exceptions)
I missed a blemish or piece of fuzz and you want to remove it (though I'd rather do it myself so if/when I post the photo it isn't there)
no removing, cropping, or hiding the watermark (see exceptions)
image is shown in full in a carousel post
it's being used as a profile picture
it is being used as part of a collage (year end for example) or convention lineup
How will I receive photos?
Final edits will be uploaded to my Google Drive in a folder specifically for you. You'll then receive an email with the Google folder using the email provided in the contract. I recommend adding my email (camcammeiiphotography@gmail.com) to your email contacts since my emails have a nasty habit of going to spam.
Photos are provided within 30 days of the session or 30 days of the Monday following of the convention. Upon receiving the email the photos will be available for download for 14 days.
Do you offer 18+ sessions?
I do, but there are two requirements that must be met in addition to all normal requirements.
legal ID must be provided by the client and any friends accompanying
a private location must be provided by the client
Why do you get credited for Imiicie Photography in older photos?
Simple, I used to be known as Imiicie everywhere! But after 2+ years with the username I didn't feel it was me, so I changed it to CamCammeii! I'm LOVING the new handle and I already feel so much more authentically me than I ever have in the community.
